What is APWA?

The Indiana Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) is a branch of APWA National. We serve professionals in all aspects of public works and the public works fields. APWA includes not only personnel from local, county, state, and federal agencies, but also private sector personnel who supply products and services to those professionals

What can APWA do for you?

National:

Indiana Chapter:
  • Education Sessions
  • Networking with peers in the industry
  • Annual golf outing to raise money for the annual scholarship and chapter functions
What can you do for Indiana APWA?
  • Fill a vacant director’s position
  • Join a standing committee
Indiana Chapter goals for 2016:
  • Improve on what was accomplished in 2015
  • Improve communications with all members
  • Strengthen and support the existing committees in 2016
  • Retain current members
  • Grow membership throughout the state through additional outreach and activities
  • Apply to host the APWA National Snow Conference in 2018 or 2019 (already done)
  • Expand and improve on education successes from 2015 (Concrete joint repair, Asphalt,
    green infrastructure, generational knowledge, membership outreach, etc.)
Current Board Positions (Currently filled positions are through December 2016, with
elections in November 2016):
  • President – Jamie Stetzel – American Structurepoint, Inc.
    Runs the day to day operations of the chapter, is a champion of the organization, runs
    the monthly meetings, coordinates with the committee chairs and chapter leadership.
  • Vice President – Eric Pethtel – City of Fishers
    Assists the Chapter President with the day to day functions, stands in place of the
    president if absent, and coordinates with committees.
  • Treasurer – Shan Gunawardena – City of Ft. Wayne
    This position is responsible for keeping our books, collecting funds, cutting checks, an
    annual budget, monitoring chapter investments, monthly reporting to the board, semiannual report to APWA National, and any documents needed for the annual audit to
    National.
  • Secretary – Lori Rushin – Eilts Consulting Services
    This position keeps all records, correspondence for the chapter, minutes of the
    meetings, and reports to National as needed with Chapter activities.
  • Delegate – Eric Pethtel – City of Fishers
    The chapter delegate represents the chapter at regional and national delegates
    meetings. They disseminate information about the chapter and national to membership
    and the chapter board.
Directors (Responsible for coordination with membership in each region of the state, help
draw in new membership, serve on the membership committee and support the chapter in
other ways.)
  • LaPorte District – Rich Domonkos – Indiana LTAP
  • Ft. Wayne District – Larry Campbell – City of Ft. Wayne
  • Crawfordsville District – Rob Roberts – Town of Danville
  • Greenfield District – Rich Condre – Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc.
  • Seymour District – Vacant
  • Vincennes District – Jeff Theising – City of Jasper
Standing Committees:
  • Education – Vacant
    Sets up and runs education sessions for the chapter. Coordinates committee meetings,
    sends out class notices, handles registration, and questions related to classes.
    Membership – Mike Smith – Indianapolis DPW retired / DLZ
    Coordinates new membership, membership retention and national efforts to draw in new
    members.
    Awards/Scholarship – Chad Kincaid
    Coordinates the annual scholarship application, reviews scholarship applications, reaches
    out to past scholarship winners, and handles any scholarship questions
